The Flat Rock Archive is SO incredibly proud of Chanté Lively, a junior at Arabia Mountain High School. She recently won fourth place in a 4-H competition for her engaging and enlightening presentation on the history of Flat Rock! Hurray!!! Check out a still image from her presentation below (Unfortunately, I couldn't get the video to upload!)
Announcing the 2016 Flat Rock Reunion!
We are very excited for our upcoming family reunion! We are especially excited for the first event--the Welcome Party and Registration--which will take place here at the Flat Rock Archives on July 22 from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. We are also excited to welcome some of our celebrity family members including Warren Moon, Chris Tucker, Bobby Wooten, Dwayne Harris, Michael Guthrie, and Willie Gault.
Young Volunteers and Visitors!
The Flat Rock Archive was ecstatic to host two groups of students recently. The first group of young people volunteered at the Flat Rock Garden and our slave cemetery. The second group came to visit and learn about rural African American history and the heritage of the Flat Rock region. We LOVE to host students here at Flat Rock. Consider bringing your student to our Archives to see, touch, learn, and experience the legacy of African American life in DeKalb.
Students at the Lyons House in DeKalb County. These students volunteered in the Flat Rock garden and the Flat Rock slave cemetery.

Happy Holidays from The Flat Rock Archive!
We would like to extend a huge thank-you to everyone who supported us, visited us, contacted us, or even just glanced at our new website this year. We are so excited to continue preserving and celebrating rural African American history during 2016. Happy Holidays!!!
